Hall County Sheriff’s deputies on Friday arrested a 40-year-old man accused of performing lewd acts while looking through an elderly person’s window.

Terry Grant of Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville was arrested Friday after Hall County Sheriff’s deputies caught him looking through the windows of a home on the 2000 block of Henderson Street.

Deputies, who had been watching the area after receiving complaints of a "Peeping Tom" in the area, witnessed Grant step onto the porch of the home and start looking through the windows.

When the officers approached Grant, they saw he was performing what they called a "lewd act."

"It’s not often that we actually catch someone in the act of looking into people’s windows," said Hall County sheriff’s Maj. Jeff Strickland.

Grant was charged with one count of Peeping Tom and one count of criminal trespass. He has previously been arrested for a similar offense in the same area in June 2007 and in 2005.

"He has the court’s attention," Strickland said about Grant’s repeat offenses in the area.

Grant is being held without bond at the Hall County Detention Center, Strickland said.
