One man was slightly injured Wednesday night in a fire that burned a home in the 400 block of McClure Drive in Oakwood, fire officials said.

Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell said two men were in the 1,800-square-foot home at the time of the 11:20 p.m. fire.

One man woke the other occupant when the fire was discovered. One of the men suffered minor second-degree burns to his wrist and arm and was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he was treated and released early Thursday morning.

Fire officials did not release the name of the burn victim, citing federal privacy guidelines for medical patients.

The men told officials there was a smoke alarm in the house but that it did not go off.

When Hall County firefighters responded, the home engulfed in flames. By the time they could put it out, the fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damages.
