A motorcyclist was killed Sunday afternoon in an accident on Oak Street in Gainesville, police said.

Gainesville Police said the accident occurred about 5:24 p.m. when the southbound motorcyclist lost control on a curve and left the highway. The driver was later pronounced dead at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

The victim’s name wasn’t immediately released and the accident is under investigation, police said.
