Why hasn’t a traffic signal been put on McEver Road where entrances to the Publix and Kohl’s shopping centers create an awful traffic situation?

The intersection is too close to that of McEver Road and Dawsonville Highway, according to Department of Transportation spokeswoman Teri Pope.

Traffic signals must be at least 1,000 feet apart on a road like McEver in order to operate correctly, she said.

Pope admitted the area is congested but said she’s not aware of any recent complaints about it. She didn’t offer any other possible solutions when asked.

Jody Woodall, Hall County road projects engineer, said the intersection is maintained by the DOT and referred questions back to them.
