If you’ve been wondering about something in your community, Ask The Times is your place to get answers. The following question was submitted by a reader and answered through the efforts of our news staff.

When will construction begin on the new bridge extending Tumbling Creek Road across railroad tracks to Old Oakwood Road at Millside Parkway, and what is the timeline for finishing the work?

Work should start in October or November, said Ken Rearden, Hall County public works and public utilities director. He said the work should take about a year to finish.

The project is a joint venture of multiple local municipalities, with the Hall County Board of Commissioners providing $400,000, Gainesville City Council chipping in $200,000 and Oakwood City Council adding $50,000 for the project. Those governments are getting another $2 million for the project from a state transportation grant approved in June.
