When will the new Denny’s restaurant open in Gainesville?

The Denny’s is scheduled to open on Tuesday and it is located at 1701 Browns Bridge Road, according to store owner Donnell Thompson.

The store will be open 24 hours a day year-round, has a seating capacity of about 230 people and features a full-service bar. It has been undergoing renovation for the past two months. Most of the inside of the building has been replaced, including booths, light fixtures and the bar. The outside has been touched up with a new entrance.

“It’s almost a completely different building than it was before,” Thompson said.

Close to 100 employees have been hired, but the restaurant is still looking for employees, especially servers and cooks with experience. Those interested can visit the location for an application.

“We hope to bring something new to Gainesville,” Thompson said. “There are no other 24-hour restaurants like Denny’s around here.”

What is going to happen to the old Hardee’s building in Oakwood?

Rosenfield Restaurants has the building in Oakwood under contract with plans to demolish it and build a new Hardee’s restaurant at that location, according to real estate representative Greg Craft.

The company has been busy opening restaurants across Georgia. In the past 12 months, they have opened locations in Winder, Lawrenceville, Fayetteville, Covington, Roswell and Byron and have a new store under construction in Jefferson and are preparing to begin construction on another one in Fairburn.

Craft expects to close on the property toward the end of 2013, and open the new location at the beginning of the second quarter of 2014, pending government approvals and a final cost review.
