If you’ve been wondering about something in your community, Ask The Times is your place to get answers. The following question was submitted by a reader and answered through the efforts of our news staff.

Why is RaceTrac building another station at the corner of West Ridge Road and U.S. 129 when they have the new one right up the road?

“RaceTrac determines its site locations based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, traffic patterns,” RaceTrac spokeswoman Karissa Bursch wrote in an email. “Based on analysis of this area, the team at RaceTrac determined this location in Gainesville to be a fit for us. We look forward to continuing to be a part of and serve the Gainesville community.”

While just down the road from each other, the RaceTrac locations will be off different exits of Interstate 985. The newer RaceTrac will be on Exit 22. The current RaceTrac is on Exit 20.
