If you’ve been wondering about something in your community, Ask The Times is your place to get answers. The following question was submitted by a reader and answered through the efforts of our news staff.

What kinds of plastics are allowed to be dropped off at Hall County’s recycling facilities?

Empty plastic bottles and tubs without lids can be recycled. Any food, drink or cleaning product plastic bottle or tub is acceptable, including milk and water jugs.

Plastic bags and plastic hangers currently can’t be taken to Hall recycling sites.

Bobby Purdum, resource recovery superintendent, said Hall County is working toward eventually being able to accept recycled plastic bags, but “we don’t have the space to sort those at our current facility.”

Purdum said recycling for plastic bags is available at most local grocery stores.
