Heavy rains cause minor sewage spill in Lula

Early morning rains caused a small sewage spill this morning at the Hood Street Pump Station in Lula.

Lula officials estimate that between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m., heavy rains caused a nearby creek to flood and exceed the capacity of the pump station. Fewer than 100 gallons of raw sewage were spilled.

The Georgia Environmental Protection Development has been notified.
