Georgia Supreme Court clears man of 2009 murder charges

The state's highest court has ruled that murder charges against a Lumpkin County man must be dropped and that he can't be prosecuted again for the crime. The Georgia Supreme Court ruled Friday that Lewis Melvin Dempsey should be cleared in the 2009 shooting death of Dillard Jewell Crane following a long-standing property dispute between the men. Dempsey was indicted two months after Crane's death on murder and other charges.
