Residents across the state are encouraged today to give to their favorite charities during a 24-hour period designated as Georgia Gives Day.
The Georgia Center for Nonprofits is putting on the event, which includes many local charities.
The goal of the event is to raise as much money as possible in a single day. Donors should go to www.gagivesday.org, which lists the participating organizations and includes a brief synopsis of each group’s mission.
A few of the organizations have already started receiving donations. Across the state, the project has already raised $398,925.
