Hall County firefighters Josh Moreno, left, and Jesse Young survey a fire-ravaged roof Thursday at a home on Yellow Creek Road. A fire in the attic destroyed the home, with one person treated for smoke inhalation.

A North Hall resident was taken to a hospital as a precaution for minor smoke inhalation from a fire that destroyed his home Thursday.

The $180,000 home, which according to public records is the home of Dennis Fowler, was a total loss, Hall County Fire Marshal Scott Cagle said.

The fire started shortly before 11:30 a.m. from electrical wiring on the second floor, Cagle said.

Fowler was able to escape the blaze in time but inhaled some smoke and was given oxygen at the scene. He was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for observation but his injuries were not thought to be serious, Cagle said. Firefighters had the fire at the 3,000-square-foot house on Yellow Creek Road under control within minutes.

It was one of four fire calls that Hall County firefighters responded to on Thursday.

At 2:45 p.m. at 325 Highland Terrace, firefighters responded to a single-wide mobile home with light smoke showing, Cagle said.

Firefighters found a small grease fire on the stove. Due to the damage, occupants went to stay with friends, Cagle said.

At 3:05 p.m. at 4981 Emory Griffin Road, firefighters responded to a 6-by-6 shed that was fully ablaze. The fire was started by a pile of tree limbs a man was burning that got out of control. The value of the damage was approximately $2,500.

Firefighters went to another mobile home fire at 3:30 p.m. on Fuller Road.

An electrical fire started in the ceiling and walls of the mobile home. The three adult occupants are staying with neighbors until repairs are made, Cagle said.
