Motorists might want to make a habit of checking their navigation app if they plan to head out in the evening on Interstate 985.
Overnight lane closures are expected along I-985 over the next few weeks as the Georgia Department of Transportation completes a resurfacing project that includes new pavement reflectors.
The effort is expected to take place Sundays through Thursdays, with work starting at 7 p.m. each night and lasting until 6 a.m. the next morning.
The work will involve northbound and southbound lanes between Exit 4, or Buford Drive/Ga. 20, in Gwinnett County and Exit 12, or Spout Springs Road in South Hall.
“Lane closures will be permitted until … mid-October,” a DOT press release states.
Grinding and striping work is done and reflectors are in place, said DOT district spokeswoman Katie Strickland in an email.
“This last bit of work is sealing the joints,” she said.
