Piedmont debate/forensic team heads to national tournament

The Piedmont College debate/forensic team is going to compete in the National Forensic Association championship tournament April 14-18 at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind.

Piedmont qualified for the tournament after reaching the finals in each event at the recent Georgia Intercollegiate Forensics Association State Team on Feb. 20 at the University of North Georgia’s Gainesville campus.

Janice Moss advised the debate team, which includes John Dodson, Madison Marcus, Kelsey Cook, Avery Musembwa, Rusty Crumley and Ray Hernandez.

Marcus placed second in editorial impromptu speaking and took fifth place in impromptu speaking; Crumley placed fourth in both impromptu and after dinner speaking; and Musembwa, Hernandez, Cook and Dodson won a fourth place team sweepstakes award.
