Twelve students from Johnson High School were recently selected for the Georgia Music Educator’s District XIV Honor Band.

Cindy Burciaga, David Cazares, Macy Dowdy, Abram Ehl, Chris Hand, Kasey Higginbotham, Jali Hoehn, Caitlin Lee, Moses Lopez, Josh Martinez, Elizabeth Rivera and Kaylie Wilson were the students who secured the honor. Additionally, Burciaga, Cazares, Dowdy, Ehl, Hand, Higginbotham, Hoehn, Lee, Lopez, Martinez and Wilson auditioned well enough to be selected to move on to the second round statewide auditions.

More than 600 students from Hall and surrounding counties prepared scales, an etude, and were required to learn a previously unseen piece with only 30 seconds of silent practice during their audition.

Selected District Honor Band students will perform a concert at Riverside Military Academy’s Cervantes Theatre at 3 p.m. Saturday. The concert is free and open to the public.
