Harris Blackwood, a Gainesville resident and director of the state Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, has been named to a national safety commission. U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx has appointed Blackwood to the National Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council. Blackwood’s appointment became effective April 21.
