The Georgia State Patrol on Wednesday identified the victim of a Tuesday afternoon fatal wreck on Browns Bridge Road as Michael Lamar Stamps of Dahlonega.

According to the patrol, Stamps was driving a Mitsubishi Eclipse east on Ga. 369 two miles outside of Gainesville shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday when he lost control on a curve and crossed the center line.

The Mitsubishi collided head-on with a flatbed tractor-trailer hauling lumber in the westbound lane.

Stamps was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center, where he later died. There were no passengers in his car.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured and no citations will be issued in the crash, the patrol said.
