A Flowery Branch man is accused of leaving 11 ounces of methamphetamine in a car he crashed earlier this month in the Interstate 985 median, according to Hall County authorities.

Abraham Anthony Martinez, 38, was arrested and charged Monday with trafficking methamphetamine following the Aug. 3 crash.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office and Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad worked together after finding a car crashed into the I-985 median between Flowery Branch and Oakwood. The collision damaged the median and the vehicle later determined to be driven by Martinez.

Inside the vehicle were 11 ounces of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $30,800.

Authorities first charged Martinez with failure to maintain lane, not having a license and leaving the scene of an accident on Aug. 23. Martinez posted bond for the traffic charges.

MANS agents sought an arrest warrant for trafficking methamphetamine the week after the traffic charges and booked Martinez into the Hall County Jail on Monday.

Martinez is on parole for other drug charges including possession of methamphetamine, alprazolam and hydrocodone with the intent to distribute and possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana.

Martinez remains in the Hall County Jail.
