Michelle Elizabeth “Libby” Sayre and 1st Lt. Matthew Ryan Pope, USMC, were united in marriage at 4:30 p.m. May 6, 2017, at The Farmhouse at 30542 in Flowery Branch. The bride is the daughter of Celeste and Drew Sayre of Gainesville. The groom is the son of Carolyn and Gerard Pope of Flowery Branch.

The Rev. Whit Martin performed the ceremony. Guitarist Rob Brooksher and violinist Paul Glaze presented a program of wedding music.

The bride was presented in marriage by her father. The bride’s friend SaraAnn (Forrester) Harris of Gainesville was matron of honor. The bride’s friend Chelsea Brown of Flowery Branch was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride’s sister Molly Sayre of Gainesville, the bride’s friends Ariel (Simmons) Tithof of Lawrenceville and Abigail (Rice) Bailey of Hoschton and the groom’s sisters Jennifer (Pope) Do of Dacula, Emily Pope of Flowery Branch and Kimberly Pope of Atlanta. The bride’s friends Kadence Anderson of Flowery Branch, Tiffany, Victoria and Georgia Bailey of Hoschton and Laney and Maggie Martin of Smyrna and the bride’s goddaughters Ellee and Emma Harris of Gainesville were the flower girls.

The groom’s father Gerard Pope of Flowery Branch and the groom’s brother Christopher Pope of Flowery Branch were the best men. Groomsmen were the groom’s friends Jeremy Smith of Flowery Branch, Erik Gernat of Flowery Branch, Dan Lemaux of Boston, Mass., Brandon Dillard of Flowery Branch and Josh Sanchez of Flowery Branch and the groom’s cousin  Lawrence Pope III of Chicago, Ill. The groom’s nephew Jackson Pope of Flowery Branch was the ring bearer. Ushers were Bryant Do and Jordan Do.

Olivia Gernat, Melissa and Dexter Williams, Denise Frier, Jacob Frier, Courtney Brooks, Tina Crowe Gable, Ashley Williams Martin, Susanne McManus, Tommy and Lillie Patterson, Joslyn Hilliard, Rebecca Hilliard and Karen Alcock assisted with the wedding.

The bride wore diamond earrings given to her by the groom and a garter and sixpence worn by her mother and godmother at their weddings. She carried her paternal great grandmother’s rosary in her bouquet. The ring bearer carried the bible of her late grandmother Jane Campbell Sayre.

The groom’s parents gave a rehearsal dinner at The Farmhouse at 30542 in Flowery Branch on the eve of the wedding.

The bride’s parents gave a reception following the ceremony.

Following a honeymoon to Atlanta and Washington, D.C., the couple reside in Norway.
