Popeyes’ chicken sandwich is coming back to a Sunday near you.
The restaurant chain is bringing back its famous — and famously difficult to find — sandwich rival to Chick-fil-A’s ubiquitous No. 1 (with Chick-fil-A sauce. And large waffle fries).
(And could we get a few more sauces in the bag, please?)
But Popeyes wants you to know something as it brings back the chicken sandwich on Nov. 3: It’s not Chick-fil-A. The advertising that dropped Monday, Oct. 28, announcing the return of the sandwich was a beginning-to-end roast of America’s most popular fast food chain.
But Chick-fil-A has dished it out, too, as locations around the United States made hay about Popeyes straight-up running out of chicken sandwiches on a daily basis.
The daily depletions of the Popeyes sandwich came to an end in August, when all locations everywhere ran out — for good. The restaurant chain stopped offering the sandwich two months ago in order to rebuild supplies for the second release.
But now it’s back, and you’ll notice something else about the return date of the chicken sandwich that caused a frenzy of long lines when it was first announced: Nov. 3 is a Sunday.
