The grilled cheese sandwich is getting the love and praise it deserves in Atlanta this weekend.

The Atlanta Grilled Cheese Festival, on June 16-17 at Brookhaven Park, will feature a dozen restaurants from Atlanta serving samples of the sandwich, as well as a beer garden and live music. Saturday is for people 21 and older, while all ages are welcome Sunday.

Vendors will put a new twist on one of America’s favorite sandwiches, including jalapeno popper grilled cheese and a strawberry rhubarb grilled cheese.

Tickets are $29 for both early and afternoon sessions Saturday, as well as for Sunday’s early session, and tickets are $28 for Sunday’s afternoon session, starting at 3 p.m. Early session attendees should plan to arrive between noon and 2 p.m., while afternoon session attendees should arrive between 3 and 5 p.m. People with early session tickets will not have to leave at 3 p.m., but they will need to arrive before then. Tickets include three grilled cheese samples.

The festival will be from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Brookhaven Park, 4158 Peachtree Road Northeast in Atlanta. Tickets can be purchased in advance online.
