The free community event features activities such as such as a rock climbing wall, bounce house, obstacle course, Zumba demo, games, arts and crafts and vendors. All are designed to motivate and teach families how to develop healthy routines at home.
The annual event will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 6, at Laurel Park, 3100 Old Cleveland Highway, in Gainesville.
“A child’s development is never on vacation and Healthy Kids Day is a great opportunity to educate families and motivate kids to stay active in spirit, mind and body throughout the summer,” said Gwendolyn Hatcher, child care director for the Georgia Mountains YMCA.
In conjunction with Healthy Kids Day for the second consecutive year, will be sixth annual Fit Families 5K. The race will begin at 9 a.m. with registration costing $25.
