Cedar Hill Enrichment Center staff have found a reflective way to celebrate the longest night of the year. The center’s staff have organized a special, winter solstice labyrinth walk for 7 p.m. today. The solstice marks the day of the year with the least amount of sunlight hours. "It’s a wonderful way for folks to enjoy the holiday season in a peaceful, contemplative manner," said Kat Stratton, director of the Gainesville enrichment center. The walk is free, but "love offerings" are appreciated. Participants are encouraged to dress in weather-appropriate attire and to also bring an enclosed candle. The seven-circuit labyrinth is tucked away on the 17-acre campus at 5735 Dawsonville Highway. Previously, Cedar Hill was a center for women’s spirituality, but it is currently in transition to a center for sustainable living. The center’s staff regularly hosts gardening and eco-friendly workshops. In addition to the labyrinth, there are also several meditation gardens, indoor facilities for retreats and a native plant walking tour.
