While young trick-or-treaters take over towns Friday night, residents 21 and older can steal away to the North Georgia mountains after Halloween to sip some spirits at the second annual Unicoi Wine Festival.
The event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Georgia’s newest historic site, the Hardman Farm. It is located at the junction of Ga. 75 and Ga. 17 in the scenic Nacoochee Valley between Alpine Helen and the village of Sautee.
Tourists and residents alike may soak up the autumn mountain day and taste the wines from seven of White County’s winemakers. Featured wineries include The Cottage Vineyard & Winery, Frogtown Cellars, Habersham Winery, Sautee Nachoochee Vineyards, Serenity Cellars, Sylvan Valley Cellars and Yonah Mountain Vineyards. Each winery will feature four wines, which will be available for purchase.
Local arts and handcrafted items will be on display for purchase. Tables, chairs and tents will be onsite, allowing visitors to relax while listening to music and drinking from the various wine selection.
Tours of the Hardman Farm Georgia Historic Site also will be available.
Tickets are $30 per person and includes a commemorative wine glass and 12 tasting tickets. Additional tasting tickets may be purchased at the Unicoi Wine Market booth.
Parking is free and includes shuttle service to and from the designated parking lot.
