UNGs A Little Night(hawk) concert to feature music dealing with love

With Valentine’s Day more than two weeks away, the University of North Georgia faculty along with trio of special guests will get couple in the loving spirit with their performance “Love at the Door.”

The free concert series “A Little Night(hawk) Music” will begin at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, in the Ed Cabell Theatre Lobby on the UNG Gainesville campus at 3820 Mundy Mill Road in Oakwood.

The song program will feature music from American composer Samuel Barber to tell the story of youth, innocence and love. It will include “The Monk and His Cat,” “Nocturne,” “Sure on this shining night” and his legendary “Dover Beach.” And opening the night will be his iconic piece, “Knoxville: Summer of 1915.”

Performers will be UNG faculty members Karen Sigers on piano and Benjamin Schoening as lyric baritone. Special guests are Christina Howell, a soprano from Clayton State University, and Jonathan Pilkington, a tenor from Piedmont College.
