UNG to reveal masterpiece of medieval art
University to unfurl tapestry Friday in Dahlonega
0326-GO-UNG-BayeuxTapestryEdit
A University of North Georgia student photographs sections of a full-size replica of the 11th century Bayeux Tapestry. The replica will be on display to the public from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, March 27, in the dining hall banquet room on the Dahlonega Campus. The viewing is free and open to the public.
While many pieces of art can fill a gallery, it is a rare to see one piece take over one room. But the University of North Georgia has such a piece of art. In 2014, the University of North Georgia acquired the only hand-painted, full-size replica of the 224-foot-long Bayeux Tapestry, which depicts historic events leading up to the Norman conquest of England.
