Families can experience farm life firsthand at the Touch a Tractor Family Event set for Oct. 8-9 at McDaniel Farm Park in Duluth.

The Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the restored 1930s heritage farm.

Visitors can tour the 10-acre farm, explore antique tractors, enjoy a hayride and petting zoo and watch historical demonstrations. Bluegrass music will feature performers The Skillet Lickers, Bill Long & the Wild Heard, Exception to the Rule, the Cartecay River Band and Blue Billy Grit.

Crafts, food vendors and pumpkins also will be on hand.

"This is a great family event for those who desire a local fall festival in a unique farm setting," said Catherine Long, GEHC History and Culture Program manager.

Admission is $1 per person, with fees for other activities. You can register in advance by calling 770-814-4920.

Parking is available at the farm's rear entrance Saturday and shuttle parking from Shorty Howell Park to the event will be provided on Sunday. McDaniel Farm Park is located at 3251 McDaniel Road.
