Three young theater groups to perform child-friendly plays in May

The boy who never grew up, the red-haired orphan girl and high schoolers who sing and dance will take to the stage to entertain young audiences in North Georgia.

‘Peter Pan Jr.’

Peter Pan and his mischievous fairy sidekick, Tinkerbell, visit the nursery of the Darling children late one night. Then with some pixie dust, Wendy, John and Michael begin a journey across the stars that they will ever forget.

The Sautee Stars will present “Peter Pan Jr.” at 7 p.m. Friday, May 19, and Saturday, May 20, and 2 p.m. Sunday, May 21. All three performances will be in the Sautee Nacoochee Community Association Center’s theater at 283 Ga. 255 North in Sautee Nacoochee.

Tickets are $5 for children and students 16 and younger, $10 for SNCA members and $12 for nonmembers.

‘High School Musical’

Troy, Gabriella and other students of East High School must deal with issues of first loves, friends and family while balancing classes and extracurricular activities in Disney’s “High School Musical.”

See the drama fun unfold in song and dance as Johnson High School brings the muscial to the stage.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday, May 19, and Saturday, May 20, and 3 p.m. Sunday, May 21 in the school’s performing arts center at 3305 Poplar Springs Road in Gainesville.

Tickets are $5 for students and senior citizens and $7 for adults. They can be purchased at www.showtix4u.com.

‘Annie Jr.’

A young curly red-haired girl in an orphanage is hoping to reunite with her family. Instead she finds a new one with a wealthy businessman.

The Play of Players Petite Poppers will present “Annie Jr.” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 26; 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 27, and 2 p.m. Sunday, May 28. All performances will be at Johnson High School Performing Arts Center, 3305 Poplar Spring Road, in Gainesville.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students and $5 for children ages 5 and younger. Tickets will go on sale at 6 p.m. at the box office with doors opening at 7 p.m.
