Stirring up a little happiness
Conversations encompassing history, mystery, romance, humor, foreign lands and local lore will spill from the lips of area writers as they entertain visitors to downtown Gainesville.
The Northeast Georgia Writers will be on hand from 2:30–6:30 p.m. Friday, May 29, at the Historic Downtown Gainesville Market on the Square to celebrate the launch of its book, “Words on the Wind.” Many of the authors published in the anthology will be on hand to inscribe their work.
The 2015 anthology contains works by 24 authors, including poetry, song lyrics, short stories and essays. Each work was an award-winner in the group’s annual writing competition from 2007 through 2014.
The group’s previous anthology published in 2007 has sold out.
Northeast Georgia Writers was formed in 1973 for the purpose of fostering good writing. Its membership is diverse and open to anyone interested in writing.
Regular meetings are at 1 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month at Peach State Bank, 325 Washington St., in Gainesville. The Gainesville-based group of regional writers welcomes visitors and writers of all levels of experience and in all genres.
