While garden enthusiasts and flower aficionados tiptoe through the tulips in the outdoors, they can glimpse art usually seen inside an art gallery.
Art in the Gardens will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 711 Green St. The free event’s purpose is to increase community awareness of the Gardens on Green and showcase a diversity of garden art in the middle of spring, according to organizers.
A diverse range of art will be on display including mud pies, fairy houses, leaf printmaking, edible art, garden art on canvas, plein air painting, flower arrangements by Jane Hemmer and metal garden art by Jane Taylor.
Gardens on Green is a cooperative effort of Hall County Master Gardeners and the Hall County School System, which is funded through grants and donations.
During the fall and spring of the school year, Gardens on Green educates second-graders every Tuesday with hands-on classes. Sessions include composting, knowing and growing what we eat, learning the butterfly cycle, discovering native plants and conifers and learning plant needs. During the summer, the gardens host a story time at 10 a.m. every Monday in June and July for pre-kindergarten through second-graders. The story will be followed by related activities in the gardens.
