Instead of wearing athletic shorts and shirts, runners will don their favorite fashions from the 1980s for a race sponsored by the South Hall Rotary Club.

The Awesome ’80s Run 5K will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at Flowery Branch Train Depot at 5302 Railroad Ave.

Runners are encouraged to wear wacky costumes, neon shorts and leggings, wild colorful hairstyles, big glasses, headbands and scrunchies, stylish leotards and other ridiculous costumes.

Online registration is $25 at www.runnersfit.com/southhallrotary5k or www.active.com. The deadline is Friday, Aug. 19.
