Getting soaked in water under a hot sun is not an activity limited to children and adults. Water-loving pooches will have the opportunity to get wet and wild at an all-inclusive doggy pool party.
The fourth annual Soggy Doggy Pool Party will be Sunday, Sept. 13, in the Splash Zone at the Frances Meadows Aquatic Center in Gainesville.
Dogs of all breeds and sizes may jump around and play in the spray fountains, happy loop, interactive water playground, zero depth entry, current channel, swirl pool and kiddie slide.
But owners do not have to worry about their petite pooches being sloshed around by a bigger breed. Dogs weighing 35 pounds or less will have use of the Splash Pad beginning at 1 p.m. at 1545 Community Way NE in Gainesville.
Dogs above the weight limit at any given time may be on a leash outside of the water.
At 3 p.m., all dogs more than 35 pounds may get soaked in the Splash Pad of the aquatic center.
But all fun for the canines will end at 4:45 p.m.
Since dogs and humans need to replenish their energy with food and water, dog treats and human snacks will be permitted in designated eating areas.
Before the dogs splash around the water park-style feature, owners must provide proof of vaccinations, such as rabies and other current shots. Canines also must wear their collars at all times.
All chemicals will be removed from the Splash Zone for the pool party to ensure a safe time for the pooches. Owners may bring up to two dogs.
Dogs not participating in Splash Zone fun must be on a leash at all times.
Vendor booths will have different door prizes for some lucky pooches.
