Tellabration!, the worldwide storytelling event that started more than 25 years ago, will come to the Sautee Nacoochee Center at 8 p.m. Nov. 19 with storyteller Minton Sparks. Local storyteller David Fore will open Saturday's show.
Fusing music, poetry and a gift for storytelling, spoken-word artist Sparks travels extensively. She has performed at various universities, clubs, poetry and storytelling festivals to share her unique brand of performance poetry and creative writing workshops with audiences nationwide.
This past year, Sparks appeared at Lincoln Center's American Songbook series alongside Rodney Crowell and Rosanne Cash at the Jonesborough International Storytelling Festival.
Sparks' poetry has been showcased on NPR's "All Things Considered," internationally on the BBC's "Bob Harris Show" and the syndicated "Woodsongs' Old Time Radio Hour."
"Sin Sick," Sparks' most recent CD, was produced by Grammy-winning artist Gary Paczosa. Throughout the album, Sparks' riveting spoken word guides listeners into the soul's dark struggle with moments of poignant comic relief.
Along with John Jackson and Steve Conn, "Sin Sick" features Nickel Creek mandolinist Chris Thile and bluegrass sensation Abigail Washburn.
Show tickets are $22, $16 for SNCA members. Tickets are available by calling 706-878-3300 or visit www.snca.org for more information.
