If you love the fun that comes with a trip to the beach but hate getting sand in your shoes, then make plans to attend the Guest House Calabash Party.

The beach-themed party is a fundraiser for the nonprofit adult day care and health care center.

The 7 p.m. Saturday fundraiser will be held at the Elks Club, 1547 Riverside Drive, Gainesville. Tickets are $25 per person.

"Like any trip to the beach, the atmosphere is fun and casual with great seafood and music," said Rachel Spain, Guest House executive director.

According to event organizers, Calabash's menu and atmosphere has been influenced by the culture and cuisine of the Carolinas.

The live music for Calabash is being provided by the Diversity Band.

A silent auction will feature items like jewelry, artwork and sports memorabilia.

The money raised from the event will help the Guest House continue to provide mentally stimulating activities and medical monitoring to elderly clients with Alzheimer's and other age-related conditions.

Guest House staff also offer educational services to families to help strengthen their caregiving capabilities.

"The community has been supportive of Calabash over the years," Spain said.

"It is our main fundraiser for the year and we hope everyone will come join us again."
