Runners on your mark for Suwanee Day races

The 11th annual Suwanee Day 5K/10K Classic is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 10.

The start and finish lines for both the 5-kilometer and 10K routes are at Town Center Park. Participants may register for one or both races.

Registration runs through today at www.suwaneeday.com. Runner also can sign up from 4:30-8 p.m. Friday at the Runners Expo at Suwanee City Hall and beginning at 6:30 a.m. at Town Center Park on race day.

Proceeds from the race will benefit the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which provides support and assistance to families of fallen and wounded military special operations personnel.

The 5K race begins at 8 a.m., the route taking runners through historic Old Town and then into a neighborhood and up a memorable hill. The 10K begins at 9 a.m. and runs along the Suwanee Creek Greenway, ending with another notable hill back up to Town Center.

This race is part of official Suwanee Day events. The annual festival Sept. 17 will feature a parade, arts and crafts exhibitors, on-stage entertainment, rides and other children's activities, fireworks and a concert with "The Lovin' Spoonful." Admission is free.
