The annual Chamber Chase 5-kilometer and 2-mile Wellness Walk will be hosted once again by the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce at Riverside Military Academy on March 30.
“We started to think ‘What we could to do call attention to self care and wellness?’” said Kit Dunlap, president and CEO of the organization that started the event 10 years ago. “It started as an idea from our Vision 2030 and health care committee.”
While the event itself is family oriented, Dunlap explained it’s “all around corporate.”
“It’s about supporting company fitness and wellness,” she said. “We say, ‘Get Fit Stay Fit Corporate Challenge.’”
According to a new release, awards will be given to the fastest corporate team, fastest community team, fastest CEO and best team spirit.
“We have a T-shirt contest for the companies, and companies pitch tents and may have snacks, too,” Dunlap said.
The event will begin with the 5K race at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 30 at Riverside Military Academy, at 2001 Riverside Drive in Gainesville. The 2-mile walk begins at 6:10 p.m. Awards will be handed out at 7 p.m.
Registration costs $35. You can register through March 30 online at www.RunSignup.com/ChamberChase or at the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce, 230 E.E. Butler Parkway, in Gainesville.
