It’s that time of year to do the time warp again: The Habersham Community Theater is bringing “The Rocky Horror Show” back the next two weekends.
Performances begin at 9 p.m. Oct. 19-20 and 26-27, with a special 11:59 p.m. show on Oct. 19. Tickets are $16, on sale at the box office by calling 706-839-1315 or by visiting www.habershamtheater.org.
The play focuses on Brad and Janet, who encounter a group of aliens in a mysterious castle when they have a flat tire. There they encounter Dr. Frank ’N Furter, who has created his own version of Frankenstein’s monster.
The play contains the hit songs “Time Warp,” “Over at the Frankenstein Place” and other favorites shared with the cult classic film. The film version, currently in its 37th year, has entertained midnight audiences continuously since it opened in 1975.
The stage play is on a 40th anniversary tour in the United Kingdom, is inspired by campy B horror movies and music from the 1950s.
The Habersham Community Theater has blended the stage and film experiences by allowing audiences to watch the stage production, but they are allowed to interact as if they were watching the movie. Midnight audiences of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” call this audience participation, and it includes shouting lines at the actors and tossing various items in the air.
Participation packs are sold for $5, but patrons are welcome to bring items from home; no food items, please.
The cast includes Dillon Nelson as Frank ’N Furter, De De Ross as Magenta, Al Griffith as Riff Raff, Brandy Bennett as Columbia, Faith Bennett as Janet, Zach Brookshire as Brad, Ashely Drake as The Criminologist, Zachary Perry and Michelle Wallace share the role of Eddie, Stephanie Santos as Dr. Scott, Kristen Scheib as Rocky Horror and Emily Brown as Trixie.
The Transylvanians are Alta Moseley, Pat Hammett, Shirley Ross, Jerry Davis, Whitney Matthews, LeAnne Nicholson, Elena Register, and Charlene Peace. Samantha Irvin and Victor Lawrence are the technicians for the show, directed by Justin Dudkiewicz
The show is rated R so audience members must be 18 years of age or older. A cash bar with beer and wine is offered for ages 21 and older. There will also be a nightly Rocky Horror character lookalike contest during each performance.
The Habersham Community Theater is located just off the square in Clarkesville.
