Elachee center hosts Trillium Trek Trail Run

Runners can race through the forest, across beautiful creeks and up moderately rolling hills during the 2014 Trillium Trek Trail Run.

The annual trek will be Sunday, April 6, at Elachee Nature Science Center in Gainesville. Participants can register for the 5-kilometer, 10-kilometer or half-marathon run.

Same-day registration begins at 1 p.m. All races starts at 2:30 p.m., with a Kid’s Fun Run starting at 2 p.m. Registration costs range between $25 and $45, depending on the race and day of registration.

Pickup for pre-race packets will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at Runners Fit, 7419 Spout Springs Road, No. 103, Flowery Branch. Pickup on race day will be 1-2 p.m. at Elachee Nature Center, at 2125 Elachee Drive, Gainesville.

The race will be held rain or shine. If lightning occurs, check for a reschedule date.

Registration includes Trail Runner Trophy Series points, chip timing, sports science tech T-shirt, post-race recovery drinks and fruit, and a raffle ticket for prizes. First-place finishers will receive hand-carved, alabaster pendants. Second and third place will receive medals.
