Think you’re the master at throwing a bean bag into a hole?

Prove it.

Cornhole enthusiasts can try their hand against other local teams this summer at Longwood Park.

The city of Gainesville will hold the first of its six summer cornhole tournaments June 6 at Longwood Park. Competitors must be 16 or older.

The city Parks and Recreation department held some cornhole tournaments last summer and into the fall with an average of 10 teams per event. The city isn’t limiting how many teams can register for the tournaments.

“The amazing environment down by the lake at Longwood Park with the competitive atmosphere is what allowed the event to grow,” said Michael Waters, recreation program coordinator for Gainesville Parks and Recreation.

No alcohol is allowed at the events, though competitors are encouraged to bring food and other drinks.
