The eighth annual event will feature different events each day July 14-16 at Lanier Islands, 7000 Lanier Islands Parkway.
Costs range from $25-$250, depending on the type of ticket purchased. You can be a landlubber for $25 or play in the poker tournament for $250.
But either way you can help raise money for Camp Sunshine, a Georgia children’s camp program that enriches the lives of children with cancer and their families through year-round recreational, educational and support programs.
The fun family event, not a race, includes a meet and greet casino night and Texas hold-em poker tournament at Grand Hall from 7-11 p.m. today; Cheeseburger in Paradise” Raft-Up on the lake from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday; and the staggered-flagged start poker run Saturday.
Awards will be presented Saturday to two poker winners — one to the “Natural Hand” and the other to the “Buy In” — as well as cash “booty prizes.” The contest for the cash include best dressed crew, best dressed boat, most patriotic boat, most creative boat and best wee pirate (boy) and wench (girl).
Then “Flash Mob” begins before the fireworks show.
For landlubber participants in the weekend’s activities, each carload will be charged a one-time entry fee of $15.
All registered attendees will receive a Pirates of Lanier Charity Poker Run lanyard allowing access to docks and Sunset Cove all three days. Lanyards may be obtained Thursday or Friday at the Grand Hall in Sunset Cove parking lot.
