The Dahlonega community is offering garden enthusiasts the opportunity to hear nationally recognized, multimedia personality Erica Glasener, who will speak at Dahlonega Park and Recreation, 365 Riley Road, at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 8. The Georgia Mountains Master Gardeners organization is hosting Glasener for a lecture on "Designing a Garden for Four Seasons." This event is free to the public with refreshments being served.

Glasener is a horticulturist, author and lecturer as well as the award winning host of HGTV’s "A Gardener’s Diary" for 14 years. In July of 2011, she received a Garden Media Award from Perennial Plant Association for her promotion of perennials in her writing and lectures. Currently, Glasener offers online content for the "Southern Living" plant collection and for Fiskars, where she is a garden expert, along with writing her garden activities blog at or on Twitter @ericaglasener.

Glasener has been a columnist for "Southern Lady Magazine," "Fine Gardening" and the Atlanta Journal Constitution for more than 10 years, writing a biweekly column on plants and garden design. She also addresses garden shows across the country and is a frequent guest on regional and national radio programs.

Glasener is the author of several books, her latest of which is "Proven Plants: Southern Gardens." Her books will be on sale during the event.
