Piedmont music professor Andrea Price, soprano, will perform a faculty recital at 7:30 p.m. March 20 in the Piedmont College Chapel.
Price will perform works by Buxtehude, Schubert, Satie, Whitacre, Debussy and Heggie, accompanied by Louise Bass on piano and harpsichord. Violinist Heather Strachan and percussionist Taylor Sexton will perform on certain selections.
Price will sing Eric Whitacre's "Five Hebrew Love Songs," which is based on the poetry of soprano Hila Plitmann, Whitacre's wife, who was born and raised in Jerusalem. Another composer showcased in the concert, Jake Heggie, has composed approximately 200 art songs.
"The Faces of Love" is a set of songs based on the poetry of Emily Dickinson.
Price teaches studio voice, vocal pedagogy and diction for the college. She earned a bachelor of music in voice performance and music education from Meredith College, a master of music in voice performance from Appalachian State University, and a doctor of musical arts in voice performance from the University of South Carolina. She was a winner of the 2010 Georgia National Association of Teachers of Singing Artist Award competition.
