Putting broken books back together and restoring a family heirloom is Mike Grimes’ bread and butter, so to speak.

The owner of TLC Book Restoration of Jasper has restored thousands of treasured old books, cookbooks and family Bibles over the past 40 years.

“The best part of my job is making people happy by restoring their family treasure or heirloom,” Grimes said in a news release. “The restoration service that I provide is almost as unique as the Bibles and books which I rebind.”

Grimes will do the same for Hall County residents. He’ll examine books at the Old Book Repair Clinics from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, at the Hall County Library System’s Gainesville branch at 127 Main St. NW.

Individuals may bring their books to the clinic where Grimes will provide options to repair them along with the cost. Repairs normally require approximately three weeks.
