For the first time ever, Amy Ray and The Shadowboxers will grace the stage at the Historic Holly Theater in Dahlonega. The concert at the theater — 69 West Main St., Dahlonega — is tonight at 8 p.m. The group will be performing songs from Ray’s latest CD, "MVP Live." Ray is the founder of Daemon Records, an independent music label, and one-half of the musical duo, Indigo Girls. Whereas the duo’s sound may fall more into the folk music genre, Ray’s solo projects carry heavier, rock influences. Ray’s solo music is urgent, loud and defiant. Although the accompanying music may be different, Ray’s independent works include the same message-laden lyrics that the Indigo Girls have become famous for since debuting in the late 80s. Since her first, solo album — "Stag" — in 2001, Ray has released several other CDs, including "Prom" and "Didn’t It Feel Kinder." Tickets for her performance at The Holly are $15 per person, or $10 with a valid student ID.
