The rain-or-shine concert will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 11, in the Ivester Amphitheater at 1911 Sweetbay Drive with gates opening at 7 p.m. It is part of the SunTrust Concerts in the Garden series at the botanical gardens.

Tickets are $37.50 for members and $39.50 for nonmembers. Children younger than 2 years old may enter for free. Ticket sales close at 4 p.m. July 11.

A Motown classic in their own right, The Temptations first began as two vocal groups from Detroit, but joined together after some members left. The quintet has been making history since the 1960s with its first No. 1 hit “My Girl” and continue the tradition today.

The founding members were Otis Williams, Eddie Kendricks, Paul Williams, Melvin Franklin and Elbridge Bryant. Otis Williams has outlived the previous four members but continues to perform with new recruits Ron Tyson, Terry Weeks, Joe Herndon and Bruce Williamson.

Spectators may sit on the grass in the amphitheater or bring a lawn chair. All chairs must have low backs (below the neck) and legs shorter than 10 inches.

The Ivester Amphitheater does not allow photography or smoking. Only service animals are allowed.

No outside food, beverages or coolers are permitted. Guests may purchase food from Fresh to Order. Beer, wine, soft drinks and bottled water may be bought at Smithgall garden.

Parking spaces are available off Cleveland Highway near the intersection of Limestone Parkway. Shuttles will depart from the location at 6:15 p.m. for platinum tickets and 6:30 p.m. for general admission tickets.

If you use will-call tickets, be prepared to show ID, the card you used to buy the tickets and the number of the order.
