About 24 hours after ringing in a new year in Atlanta, the musical duo Maivish will entertain the Sautee Nacoochee community with its traditional British Isles, Ireland and America music.

Maivish will perform from 8-11 p.m. during a special January dance for contra lovers.

Earmarked by unique sounds and rhythms, Maivish explores the landscape of time-honored melodies and songs, according to a news release from the Sautee Nacoochee Center. The group’s mix of traditional tunes and original compositions is infused with lush vocal harmonies, inspired interplay and captivating spirit, the release said.

At its core, Maivish is a collaboration between American fiddler Jaige Trudel and British-born guitarist Adam Broome, who have been performing together since 2001. The two have played at festivals and concerts throughout North America and abroad, predominantly with the band Crowfoot.

The contra dance is scheduled for 8-11 p.m. Jan. 2 in the historic gym of the Sautee Nacoochee Center, 283 Ga. 255 North. No partner or prior experience necessary.

Tickets are $7 for SNCA members; $9 for nonmembers; $50 for high school or college students and free for children 12 and younger.
