With the official start of the spring season last week, students, teachers, administrators and parents throughout North Georgia begin dreaming flip-flop weather along with beach trips or getaway vacations for the annual spring break.

With that in mind, Lanier Islands is hosting a weeklong Spring Break Celebration set on and around the half-mile stretch of white sandy beach that lines the southern shore of Lake Lanier. Festivities will include games and inflatables on the beach, opportunities to rent kayaks and paddleboards to explore the lake, a DJ spinning tunes, nautical fare at Sunset Cove Beach Café & Club and appearances by Islands’ mascot Bucky the Beaver.

The Spring Break lineup at Lanier Islands includes free admission to beach at Sunset Cove; Sunset Cove Café open with an all new menu; games on the beach, including sand volleyball, cornhole and more; mini-golf at Lakeside Links; kayaks and paddleboards available for rent; and a DJ from 3-6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Sunset Cove hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. April 1, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. April 2, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. April 3-7.

Admission to Sunset Cove is $15 per person on April 8-9. Activities include same from earlier in the week plus a few more.

On Saturday, the additions are appearances from Bucky Beaver and the Lanier Kids crew to entertain pint-sized patrons; performance featuring Daniel Johnson Band on the Sunset Cove Stage from 7-11 p.m.; first Full Moon Party featuring street performers, face painters and more; and fireworks beginning at 10 p.m.

On Sunday, the additions include an acoustic performance by Johnny Summers on the Sunset Cove Stage from 3-6 p.m.

All guests must pay a $15 per car resort gate fee to access the Islands. Admission to the Full Moon Party is included in the $15 entry fee April 8.
