Combining scientific work and artistic pieces may seem to be polar opposites but not for Joe MacGown.
The scientific illustrator does just that for the Mississippi Entomological Museum at Mississippi State University. His works will be on display Oct. 13–15 in the Smith-Williams Studios Gallery at Piedmont College.
MacGown’s scientific and surrealist art has been shown across the United States. He will conduct a public workshop/discussion of his art from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, Oct. 13, in the gallery on the ground floor of the Smith-Williams Studios at 568 Laurel Ave. in Demorest.
Visitors to the gallery may see his pieces from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Admission is free.
