Picnicking on the green grass and listening to an eclectic band is the newest offering from the Quinlan Visual Arts Center.

Deemed “Concert in the Garden,” the Hobohemians are scheduled to perform Friday, Sept. 9, at the 514 Green St. in the historical district of downtown Gainesville. Visitors to the concert may bring chairs and picnic food or a brown-bag meal.

If they don’t wish to bring their own food, guests may preorder a picnic for two to four people from Green’s Grocery. The menu options include: cheese, crackers and fruit for $15; hummus, chicken salad, cheese, pita and fruit for $23; and BBQ sliders and potato salad for $28. Guests may also add a bottle of red or white wine for $12.

To place a picnic order, call 770-534-5621 and pay at the time of the call with a credit card. The food will be ready for pickup at the gate.

Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. and the band will play at 7:30 p.m. The Hobohemians are a six-piece band known for its unique form of Americanized, vagabond-style bohemianism and a mix of proto-jazz, blues and folk. The sound was popular American and European roots music of the 1910s, ’20’s and ’30s.

Tickets are $10 per person at the gate.
