Arts Council raises funds with annual red carpet gala
North Georgia residents can hit the red carpet and makeshift casino this weekend at The Arts Council’s Red Carpet Gala Casino Night at the Smithgall Arts Center in Gainesville.

If a night of glitz and glamour is what you crave, then mark your calendar for 6:30 p.m. Saturday for The Arts Council’s Red Carpet Gala Casino Night at the Smithgall Arts Center.

The Arts Council has put together an evening of glitterati at 331 Spring Street SW in Gainesville. Set to a Great Gatsby theme, the second annual event will be filled with gourmet food, silent and live auctions, live performances by Jeni Michelson and Society Express, raffles and prizes for the second annual fundraiser. Auction items include entertainment packages, luxury treatments, artwork, golf packages and vacations.

Tickets are $75 for individuals and $125 for couples. For tickets, call 770-534-2787 or visit

Rave reviews from last year’s attendees allowed for the council to put on an even better show this year.

“Last year, this event was touted as one of the best events in Gainesville,” Arts Council Executive Director Gladys Wyant said.

Money raised at the black-tie-optional affair or Great Gatsby-attire event will go to The Arts Council.
